Renowned classical flutist Yuki Isami will perform at the Montreal International Jazz Festival (FIJM) on July 1st at Club Montreal TD at 7:00 PM. Following the release of her debut solo album, “Rives,” on May 3rd and a sold-out concert on May 17th, Yuki is bringing this new spectacle once again to Montreal.

Originally from Japan, Yuki Isami embodies the essence of cultural fusion through her music. With her debut solo album “Rives,” she presents a unique musical experience where Japanese traditions meet Western influences to create an authentic and captivating sound.

A sought-after chamber and solo performer, Yuki Isami has played with numerous local and international symphony orchestras. Concurrently, she has initiated various projects aiming to blend Japanese and Western arts.

With over 20 years of experience in Quebec symphony orchestras, including the Drummondville Symphony Orchestra and the Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean Symphony Orchestra, and recipient of the 2022 Félix Award for Album of the Year – Other Languages with the group TEKE::TEKE, Yuki Isami offers a captivating album exploring the evolution of Japanese music in contact with the West. From traditional to contemporary music, through the classical period and Western composers influenced by Japanese culture, “Rives” offers a musical journey both geographical and temporal.

Furthermore, to enrich the stage experience at the FIJM show, pianist Natsuki Hiratsuka will accompany her, along with Ian Lettre, drummer of TEKE::TEKE, who will bring his virtuosity to percussion. Yuki will perform on traditional Japanese bamboo flutes, and between pieces, elements of Japanese history and culture will be shared to enlighten the audience about the inspirations behind Western composers.
