Montreal, May 2025 – After performing nearly 20 shows across Sweden, Germany, Spain, France, and England, Dominique Fils-Aimé will release her new album Live at The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal on June 6. The album is a lasting memory of her major outdoor performance on June 29, 2024, where Dominique gracefully revisited her discography, joined on stage by 16 musicians and backing vocalists.
Dominique Fils-Aimé brings a new dimension to each track, expanding her vocal range and improvising original melodies. The band also takes creative risks, pushing the boundaries of Dominique’s repertoire with fresh, bold sounds. Live at The Festival International de Jazz de Montréal explores a wide and beautiful sonic landscape, from the upbeat rhythm of Tall Lion Down to the explosive energy of Love Take Over and the renewed interpretation of While We Wait. Together, Dominique and her ensemble push their limits, delivering an unforgettable performance.
Dominique Fils-Aimé and her exceptional band will perform two shows at the Grand Théâtre de Québec on May 31 before flying to Japan to take part in the World Expo in Osaka. The tour then continues to Vienna (opening for Jamie Cullum at Jazz à Vienne), Casablanca (at the Jazzablanca Festival), and Rotterdam (at the legendary North Sea Jazz Festival), before returning to Canada to perform at Le Festif! in Baie St-Paul on July 18.
In September, Dominique will embark on an extensive U.S. tour with shows in Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Washington, Minneapolis, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Seattle, Monterey, Phoenix, and Santa Fe. Full tour dates and details are available HERE.
Originally from Montreal, Dominique Fils-Aimé captivates audiences by first creating a soft, intimate atmosphere. She gradually builds each piece, riff by riff, with every note charged with emotion. This approach invites listeners into her creative process —where a single note or word, felt deeply, can spark an entirely new composition. These moments of pure emotion, expressed with clarity, are woven throughout the performance. The haunting vocals in Fall And All highlight Dominique’s artistic intuition. Her voice resonates like a mantra, opening an internal space where every emotion takes root. The audience’s silence underscores the transcendent quality of her performance.
On stage, Dominique’s music unfolds in its full richness and depth. Some songs blend seamlessly into the next, each ending flowing into a new beginning. This structure, like most of her artistic choices, is deliberate. It allows her to tell a story of energetic transformation, with each emotion building on the one before it. In retrospect, every feeling becomes essential to the experience of the present moment. The show’s continuity invites the audience to enter a state of flow with the musicians.
