Produced by <strong>Will<\/strong> <strong>Evankovich<\/strong>, this collective work reflects the band\u2019s renewed unity, with strong contributions from <strong>Tommy Shaw<\/strong>, <strong>Lawrence Gowan<\/strong>, and <strong>James<\/strong> \u201c<strong>JY<\/strong>\u201d <strong>Young<\/strong>. The album\u2019s cover art\u00a0\u2014 depicting a murmuration of starlings forming a giant bird above an abandoned satellite\u00a0\u2014 highlights one of the central themes: abandoned human dreams and the impact of our technology on the world.<\/p>\n<p>For 25\u00a0years, <strong>STYX<\/strong> has remained a powerful force on stage, but according to guitarist-vocalist <strong>Tommy Shaw<\/strong>, this recent artistic resurgence in the studio stems from a deep sense of harmony within the band. <em>There\u2019s a lot of positive energy right now, says <strong>Shaw<\/strong>. Everyone is performing at an incredibly high level. There\u2019s a lot of love, respect, and excitement about each other\u2019s talents. Some bands go their whole lives without ever reaching this kind of chemistry<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><em>Circling From Above<\/em> features all seven current members of the band, including founding guitarist-vocalist <strong>James<\/strong> \u201c<strong>JY<\/strong>\u201d <strong>Young<\/strong> (affectionately known as <em>The Godfather of <strong>Styx<\/strong><\/em>), <strong>Shaw<\/strong>, original bassist <strong>Chuck Panozzo<\/strong>, drummer <strong>Todd<\/strong> <strong>Sucherman<\/strong>, keyboardist-vocalist <strong>Lawrence Gowan<\/strong>, and newcomers <strong>Will<\/strong> <strong>Evankovich<\/strong> (guitar and vocals) and <strong>Terry Gowan<\/strong> (bass). According to <strong>Gowan<\/strong>, the creative process is based more on true collaboration than majority rule. <em>On the last three albums, I\u2019ve seen a real desire to make sure everyone feels good about the outcome<\/em>, he explains. <em>There are creative tensions, but everyone has a voice. It\u2019s a very healthy environment.
