Marchand Audio-Video et Villeneuve Audio<\/strong><\/span><\/em><\/span><\/p>\n

Marchand Audio-Video<\/strong> from the Trois-Rivi\u00e8res area and Villeneuve Audio of Joliette shared 2\u00a0rooms. One was dedicated to Home Entertainment<\/em> and the other to Stereo<\/em> systems. I did a tour of the rooms with David Berthelot<\/strong> of Marchand Audio-Video<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n

The Home Entertainment Room<\/em> was more like a small movie theatre (with better sound). The 7.4.4 system (that\u2019s 4\u00a0subs and 4ceiling speakers) was built around the Anthem<\/strong> AVM-90<\/em> audio-video processor. The system was running 15\u00a0channels of amplification out of 5\u00a0amplifiers. All the loudspeakers used were from the Golden Ear<\/strong> Reference<\/em> series.<\/span><\/p>\n

The overall sound was, as you can imagine, very big, but at the same time it was always under control, tight and fast. For those who are counting, the price tag runs around $100k.<\/span><\/p>\n

Moving over to the Stereo Room<\/em>, the first thing one sees walking into the room is a pair of Acapella Audio<\/strong> Arts<\/em> loudspeakers with an Advance Paris<\/strong> MyConnect\u00a0250<\/em> amp. That will pique anyone\u2019s interest!<\/span><\/p>\n

There were several systems setup in this room ranging from a small, all Gold Note<\/strong>, system for under $10k to Luxman<\/strong> electronics connected to Fyne<\/strong> Vintage<\/em> series loudspeakers. There may not be anywhere else in Quebec where you can hear the Fyne<\/strong> Vintage<\/em> series loudspeakers in a showroom! The Luxman<\/strong> system featured the first ever Network Transport<\/em> from Luxman<\/strong>, the NT-07<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another system had the Fyne<\/strong> Classic<\/em> loudspeakers matched with Canor<\/strong> electronics. The Classic<\/em> loudspeakers have the vintage speaker look that has become popular recently and, with the thick material covers on, some of the vintage sound too. David<\/strong> explained that they have a more modern sound with the covers removed.<\/span><\/p>\n

Another interesting combination was the LAB-12<\/strong> model Integre4-MK2<\/em> integrated amplifier and DAC<\/em> with the Audiovector<\/strong> QR-1-SE<\/em> loudspeakers. The integrated amp will take a variety of tubes and comes from the factory with KT170<\/em> tubes installed. The analog section of the LAB-12<\/strong> DAC1<\/em> is also tubed so you get an all-tube system for under $15k.<\/span><\/p>\n

I recently enjoyed testing the Advance Paris<\/strong> MyConnect\u00a0250<\/em> and was thus interested to see an Advance Paris<\/strong>\u00a0\/\u00a0Autovector<\/strong> system here. In this case the big guns were brought out with the top-of-the-line X-P1200<\/em> dual-mono preamp and the X-A160EVO<\/em> power amp. Matched with the elegant, piano black Audiovector<\/strong> QR-7-SE<\/em> loudspeakers, the sound of this system was very impressive.<\/span><\/p>\n

There was also a system composed of components from the increasingly popular Fezz<\/strong> Audio<\/strong> from Poland. This included the Equinox<\/em> tube DAC<\/em>, a Sagita<\/em> preamp and the Titania<\/em> 2\u00a0x\u00a045\u00a0W, KT88<\/em> power amp coupled with Audiovector<\/strong> QR3-SE<\/em> loudspeakers.<\/span><\/p>\n

There was something for every taste and every budget on display here which had me wishing that I could have spent more time listening to everything.<\/span><\/p>\n
