The Swiss company announces the introduction of a new turntable. The <em>Reference<\/em> turntable joins the limited edition <em>Reference Anniversary<\/em> turntable in <strong>Nagra\u2019<\/strong>s flagship <em>Reference<\/em> line of products.<\/span><br \/>\n<span style=\"font-family: helvetica;\"><strong><br \/>\n<\/strong>In 1951, our founder <strong>Stefan Kudelski<\/strong> invented the first portable recorder, simply called the <em>Nagra\u00a0I<\/em>. <em>Nagra<\/em> comes from a Polish word that means \u201c<em>it is recording<\/em>\u201d. The <em>Nagra\u00a0I<\/em> was followed by an impressive trail of game-changing products that revolutionized the face of sound recording. Its impact has been tremendous in the field of art, science, ethnology. Our contributions to major Hollywood films have been recognized with multiple <em>Academy Awards<\/em> for achievements in sound recording. <strong>Nagra<\/strong> was there with the advent of space exploration as <strong>Nagra<\/strong> recorders traveled to outer space supporting <strong>NASA<\/strong> in the <em>Apollo<\/em> space program. This long tradition of excellence has been perpetuated for generations. Since 1998, <strong>Nagra<\/strong> has been synonymous with sound reproduction at home for demanding music and <em>Hi-Fi<\/em> lovers.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;\">The <em>Nagra\u00a0I<\/em> and <em>Nagra\u00a0II<\/em> portable recorders made use of a <strong>Thorens<\/strong> spring winding mechanism to rotate the reels and the capstan. Electronics were used for signal recording and playback in this ground-breaking portable recorder. So <strong>Nagra<\/strong> early recorders share a common root with turntables. After four years and hundreds upon hundreds of scientific team hours, accompanied by exhaustive listening tests, the result was the <em>Reference Anniversary<\/em> turntable which extended the edge of the art in <em>LP <\/em>reproduction. It was a first step in a return to our legacy of analog mechanical reproduction. Now, following two additional years of research and development, along with <strong>Nagra<\/strong>\u2019s absolute insistence on listening verification\u00a0\u2013 we are pleased to announce the launch of the <em>Reference<\/em> turntable.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-family: helvetica;\">The <em>Reference<\/em> turntable is an analog product governed by immutable laws of physics and mechanics, very much like <strong>Nagra<\/strong> legendary reel to reel recorders. As such, it is not subject to the rapidly progressing and ever-changing developments of the digital domain. This means that the <em>Reference<\/em> turntable will remain technologically relevant for generations.
