PATHOS Acoustics<\/span>
\nPathos Acoustics<\/strong> was presenting their products within a demonstration from as well as on static display within a Hall area. Unfortunately, I only managed to get to their static display, though was able to take a few photos of their products there. The first of the products that I took note of was the Pathos <\/strong>InPol Heritage MkII<\/em> amplifier \u20ac17k, which is a 2\u00a0x 80\u00a0W\u00a0\/\u00a0ch, Pure Class\u00a0A<\/em> tube amplifier that is made in Italy, like all Pathos <\/strong>products.<\/p>\n

Sitting also there on display, just to the lower left was the InPol Legacy<\/em> fully balanced dual-mono amplifier; also, a Pure Class\u00a0A<\/em> tube amplifier product with a rather striking look that pulls together natural wood with tube romanticism.<\/p>\n

Last but not least, in fact nothing anywhere close to least, were the very tall Pathos <\/strong>Legacy Frontiers<\/em> floorstanding loudspeakers \u20ac50,000; a 4-way bass-reflex speaker that offer near full range sound, 28\u00a0Hz to 25\u00a0kHz, with a sensitivity of 88\u00a0dB.<\/p>\n

ARETAI with MOONRIVER Audio
\n<\/strong><\/span>Walking down one of the paths between booths, I came across a charming young lady, Annija Kristiana Sirma<\/strong>, Business Development Manager, for Aretai<\/strong>, a Latvian loudspeaker company. Annija<\/strong>, with a friendly smile, ushered me into their booth to get a listen to their loudspeakers.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

There on rotation were all three loudspeakers within the Aretai<\/strong> lineup, including the Contra<\/em> 100S<\/em> \u20ac9000\u00a0\/\u00a0pr 2.5-way standmount; Contra 200F<\/em> \u20ac24,000\u00a0\/\u00a0pr 3.5-way floorstander and; the Contra 350F<\/em> \u20ac54,000\u00a0\/\u00a0pr 3.5-way, large floorstander.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Brothers in Arms<\/em> by Club for Five<\/strong> was played on the 350F<\/em> and the sound had a pleasing density, presenting upfront with a rich and soothing tone and voluminous though well managed bass. Moving over to the smallest 100S<\/em>, a John Coltrane<\/strong> track immediately revealed the speakers quick and nimble nature, with generous detail. The 100S<\/em> revealed the atmosphere within the recording and given its size delivered astounding bass reproduction and reach\u00a0\u2013 it does reach down to 32\u00a0Hz. Amplification was via a MoonRiver Audio<\/strong> Model\u00a0404 Reference<\/em> stereo integrated amplifier \u20ac4950, with a 505 Hybrid<\/em> Stereo Phono EQ Stage. Aretai<\/strong>\u2019s products though available in several European countries; is still working on breaking into North America but I was told that it should be there soon.<\/p>\n

PURITAN Audio Laboratories & LYRAVOX<\/span>
\nPURITAN Audio Labs<\/strong>, had a display within the LYRAVOX<\/strong> room. It\u2019s there that I met Mike Lester<\/strong>, the company\u2019s founder.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

Mike<\/strong> expounded on the Puritan<\/strong> products, explaining that unlike typical power conditioners, Puritan<\/strong>\u2019s remove electrical interference\u00a0\/\u00a0noise, without robbing dynamics and life and serve to reveal greater musical details and larger soundstages. Puritan<\/strong> offers three levels of products: Entry\u00a0– Power Bricks<\/em>, Intermediate\u00a0\u2013 Power Strips<\/em> and their Very Best\u00a0\u2013 Studio Master Series<\/em>. From their Studio Master<\/em> Series<\/em>, they demonstrated the PSM156<\/em> (6\u00a0x 15\u00a0Amp sockets)\u00a0\u2013 showing the noise on the line with and without the PSM156<\/em> in play\u00a0\u2013 see for yourself:<\/p>\n

Puritan<\/strong> also produces three tiers of power mains cables: Classic<\/em> \u00a375\u00a0\/\u00a0m; Classic Plus with Magnetic Screen<\/em> \u00a3115\u00a0\/\u00a0m and; Ultimate<\/em> \u00a3460\u00a0\/\u00a0m high current (40A\u00a0capacity). The Lyravox<\/strong> system, using Puritan<\/strong> power cables and conditioner was playing with very authentic piano music, while I was in the room\u00a0\u2013 life and dynamics most evident.<\/p>\n

Qobuz<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Qobuz<\/strong> had an area at the show promoting their high-resolution music streaming service.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

I\u2019ve recently acquired a subscription and have been enjoying the sound quality, music selection and app. For now, I\u2019ll say that not all streaming services sound the same, regardless of their high-resolution specifications and I\u2019d recommend giving Qobuz<\/strong> a spin\u00a0\u2013 taking at advantage of the free limited time promotions. Qobuz<\/strong> was thoughtful to provide a listening \u2018booth\u2019 at the show to give their service a whirl.<\/p>\n

STENHEIM & darTZeel Audio<\/span>
\n<\/strong>It seemed that Stenheim<\/strong> and darTZeel Audio<\/strong> had decided they might work collaboratively at the show, as I found their products paired together in no less than three rooms:<\/p>\n

Room 1:<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe first and smallest system combined an Stenheim<\/strong> Alumine Two.Five<\/em> floorstander with darTZeel<\/strong> CTH 8550 mkII<\/em> integrated amplifier and LHC 208 MkII<\/em> danalogue (phono) amplifier connected to a Thales<\/strong> TTT-Compact\u00a0II<\/em> turntable, strapped with Wayxseries<\/strong> cables and VDM Sound Group<\/strong> acoustic panels.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/p>\n

This system sounded beautifully transparent, quick and lifelike.<\/p>\n

Room 2:<\/strong><\/span>
\nIt was comprised of the Stenheim<\/strong> Alumine Three<\/em> floorstander, again with a darTZeel<\/strong> CTH-8550 MkII<\/em> integrated amplifier and LHC-208 MkII<\/em> danalogue amplifier connected to a Thiele<\/strong> TT01<\/em> zero tracking error turntable with Sumiko<\/strong> cartridge.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n\"\"<\/a><\/td>\n<\/tr>\n<\/tbody>\n<\/table>\n

Though pleasant sounding, I found this system sounded a bit threadbare, and could only attribute that to the setup or the recording, as I\u2019ve heard those Alumine Three<\/em> loudspeakers sound glorious in the past and the darTZeel<\/strong> worked very well in other pairing.<\/p>\n

Room 3:<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe third room was the largest setup for these two fine manufacturers. It stepped things up considerably by using the Stenheim<\/strong> Reference Ultime Two<\/em> loudspeakers with darTZeel<\/strong> NHB-18NS MkII<\/em> preamplifier; LHC-208 MkII<\/em> network player\u00a0\/\u00a0DAC\u00a0\/\u00a0integrated; and a pair of NHB-468<\/em> monoblock power amplifiers sitting on Thixar<\/strong> Stands.<\/p>\n

The analog sources were a pair of tables from Japan, by CSPort<\/strong>: the LFT1M2 <\/em>turntable system and a TAT1M2<\/em> table. Both tables were setup with the all-new (prototype) dartZeel<\/strong> MC<\/em> cartridges\u00a0\u2013 a Black Ruby<\/em> MC<\/em> and a Diamond MC<\/em>.<\/p>\n

The sound of this system delivered riveting accurate timbre, a full rich harmonic palate with a natural presentation that demonstrated intrinsic detail. I was amazed at the lifelike rendition of bell tones from the vinyl LP. I was fortunate enough to meet Herve Deletraz<\/strong>, founder of darTZeel<\/strong>, who graciously posed for a picture.<\/p>\n
