TIDAL Audio GmbH<\/span>
\nTIDAL<\/strong> was demonstrating a couple all new products. The system at front included the all new Contriva\u00a0G3<\/em> loudspeaker \u20ac65,000\u00a0\/\u00a0pr, its first show demonstration. This new speaker incorporates new drivers and new Tiralit<\/em> cabinet for even higher performance. The Contriva\u00a0G3<\/em> is a 3-way dynamic design that uses the all-new drivers: 30\u00a0mm Gen3<\/em> diamond tweeter; 173\u00a0mm Gen\u00a04<\/em> black ceramic midrange and; twin 220\u00a0mm carbon-fiber aluminum woofers. The latest (August 2022) Piano\u00a0G3<\/em> loudspeaker \u20ac49,000\u00a0\/\u00a0pair was also in rotation. I heard the Contriva\u00a0G3<\/em> with a TIDAL<\/strong> Contros<\/em>\u00a0\u2013 digital music controller\/DAC \u20ac45,000 and their Intra<\/em> Stereo Amplifier \u20ac29,000.<\/p>\n

This system was amazingly tactile, having tight controlled bass that was effortlessly dynamic. The top end was silky and seasoned with a beautiful sparkle, while the overall tone was incredibly realistic as exemplified by piano music. Yet, as amazing as the sound of this system was, I wasn\u2019t prepared for what lie ahead.<\/p>\n

TIDAL for Bugatti \u2013 Royale Series<\/span>
\n<\/strong>J\u00f6rn<\/strong>\u00a0Janczak<\/strong> and his wife Miriam<\/strong>, invited me to attend a private event at the end of the day on Saturday. Only a half dozen or so given this limited opportunity to hear the Bugatti<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Royale Series<\/em>.<\/p>\n

\"\"<\/a><\/p>\n

J\u00f6rn<\/strong> personally provided me with an explanation on his inspiration and origin of the series and even showed me his original concept drawings. The Royale Series<\/em> is comprised of the MC-1<\/em> fully discrete streamer\u00a0\/\u00a0DAC \u20ac58,000 and Royale<\/em> 4-way hybrid-active powered loudspeaker \u20ac355,000. The svelte and utterly sexy monocoque cabinet houses TIDAL<\/strong>\u2019s T4B<\/em> diamond tweeter, diamond midrange, twin 173\u00a0mm aluminum-magnesium woofers and hidden internal side-firing 270\u00a0mm subwoofers. The tracks played, included: Spiegel im Speigel<\/em> (A.\u00a0Dubeau<\/strong>); Bubles<\/em> (Y.\u00a0Horikawa<\/strong>) and; I Will Survive<\/em> (Spinetti &\u00a0Magoni<\/strong>). What I heard\u2026well, it was magnificent! Without reservation, I can say that the Royale<\/em> system is the most transparent and lifelike audio system that I\u2019ve ever heard. The rendering was ultra-detailed\u2026from the nano-to-macro-level. It seemed that the soundstage and performers were holographically projected in space, and the harmonics were complete and accompanied by lifelike micro-dynamics, fine textures and authentic timbre. Not only was I astounded with what I heard but I was instantly moved to emotion. Bar none\u00a0– the Bugatti by TIDAL<\/strong> Royale<\/em> system was undeniable the best sound heard at the Munich HIGH END<\/strong>, a game changer<\/em> in high-end audio.<\/p>\n

FYNE Audio<\/span>
\n<\/strong>Within this FYNE<\/strong> room\u2026pun intended, the Vintage Fifteen<\/em> \u20ac35,000\u00a0\/\u00a0pr, along with the all-new prototype F703SP<\/em> loudspeaker est. \u20ac20,000\u00a0\/\u00a0pr were setup with a choice of Unison Research<\/strong> Performance 25th<\/sup> Anniversary<\/em> tube integrated amplifer or Rega<\/strong> Aethos<\/em> integrated amplifier, with a Rega<\/strong> P10<\/em> turntable and a Rega<\/strong> ISIS CDP<\/em> as sources. Cables were by Chord<\/strong>, their Sarum<\/em> series.<\/p>\n

The music in the room had immense natural warmth and an engaging tone. In the room, I had the pleasure of meeting Paul Mills<\/strong>; founding member and partner of Fyne<\/strong> and famed Tannoy<\/strong> engineer and designer of past years. It is amazing what Paul<\/strong> has accomplished with Fyne Audio<\/strong>, together with his partner, since the company\u2019s first products launched in\u00a02018.<\/p>\n

Nagra & Modulum<\/strong><\/span>
\nThe Nagra<\/strong> room hosted a system a gorgeous stack of components all set upon Modulum<\/strong> racks and stands. Rene Laflamme<\/strong> from Nagra<\/strong>, demonstrated the system for me.<\/p>\n

The system was comprised of a plethora of components. On the top shelf: (left) Nagra<\/strong>\u2019s 70th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary Reference<\/em> turntable and tonearm U.S.\u00a0$185k with Reference<\/strong> MC-4<\/em> cartridge U.S.\u00a0$18,500, while, on the right sat a Nagra<\/strong> IV-S<\/em> analog reel-to-reel tape recorder.<\/p>\n

On the second shelf (left) sat the all-new prototype HD<\/em> Phono preamplifier (exp. fall 2023), with the Nagra<\/strong> VII 70th<\/sup>\u00a0Anniversary Edition<\/em> digital recorder, to the right. On the third shelf (left) was the all-new HD<\/em> Preamp with its Power Supply below, while to the left was the Classic DAC II<\/em> U.S.\u00a0$18,500 with Classic Power Supply<\/em> below. A pair of HD AMP<\/em> monoblocks flanked the system, that was playing through a pair of grand black Wilson<\/strong> Alexx\u00a0V<\/em> loudspeakers.<\/p>\n

Listing to vinyl, I took note of the delicate piano notes accompanied by a pristinely clear treble that was airy and cool. Bass notes were springy and articulate, with evident micro dynamics and liquidity. A vocal track with the new Classic DAC<\/em> demonstrated very natural flow, inherent warmth and superb image separation.<\/p>\n
