Though a venue has not been named, it is expected to be  held at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts, where previous Apple media  events have been held.<\/p>\n<p>Given that the event is a little over a week away, Apple is expected to  send out invitations to the event soon. Other details on the event,  including potential details on the rumored \u00ab\u00a0iPad 2,\u00a0\u00bb were not given.<\/p>\n<p>The first-generation iPad was announced in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.appleinsider.com\/articles\/10\/01\/27\/apple_reveals_long_awaited_multi_touch_ipad_tablet_device.html\" target=\"_blank\">late January<\/a> of 2010, ahead of a U.S.-only launch of the Wi-Fi model in early April.  The 3G model and international launches came out over the following  weeks and months, on its way to sales of <a href=\"http:\/\/kara.allthingsd.com\/20110222\/exclusive-apple-ipad-2-event-set-for-march-2\/\" target=\"_blank\">15 million units<\/a> in the calendar year.<\/p>\n<p>The iPad 2 is widely expected to be <a href=\"http:\/\/www.appleinsider.com\/articles\/11\/01\/30\/report_details_ipad_2_components_5_million_unit_supply.html\" target=\"_blank\">thinner and lighter<\/a> with a faster processor, more RAM, and a camera for FaceTime video chat. It is also expected to have <a href=\"http:\/\/www.appleinsider.com\/articles\/11\/01\/16\/apple_expected_to_pack_ultrafast_dual_core_sgx543_graphics_into_ipad_2_iphone_5.html\" target=\"_blank\">advanced graphics capabilities <\/a>to allow playback of high-definition video and superior 3D graphics.<\/p>\n<p>As onlookers await the iPad 2, speculation has already begun that Apple  could unveil a different version of the iPad, perhaps with more  features, as early as <a href=\"http:\/\/www.appleinsider.com\/articles\/11\/02\/09\/apple_may_be_prepping_ipad_3_for_fall_2011_launch_rumor.html\">this September<\/a>.  The release of a so-called iPad 3 would align the device with the  annual announcement of new iPods just before the holiday buying season.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier Tuesday, <em>AppleInsider<\/em> <a href=\"http:\/\/www.appleinsider.com\/articles\/11\/02\/22\/apple_schedules_secret_retail_employee_meeting_ahead_of_possible_media_event.html\">exclusively reported<\/a> that Apple has scheduled a \u00ab\u00a0all hands\u00a0\u00bb meeting for its retail employees  in the coming days.
