Fortement influenc\u00e9 par <strong>Art Tatum<\/strong> \u00e0 ses d\u00e9buts, il a rapidement b\u00e9n\u00e9fici\u00e9 des liens d\u2019amiti\u00e9 qui l\u2019unissaient \u00e0 <strong>Thelonious Monk<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Tout le monde conna\u00eet ses disques enregistr\u00e9s en studio pour <strong>Blue Note<\/strong>, <strong>Verve<\/strong> ou <strong>Roulette<\/strong>. Les <em>bootlegs<\/em>, disques pirates en tous genres provenant de la p\u00e9riode europ\u00e9enne, fran\u00e7aise surtout, du pianiste sont nombreux.<\/p>\n<p>On n\u2019ignore pas non plus que <strong>Powell<\/strong> aux prises avec des probl\u00e8mes d\u2019\u00e9quilibre mental n\u2019\u00e9tait pas toujours en \u00e9tat de jouer. L\u2019int\u00e9r\u00eat de ce coffret de trois <em>CD<\/em> dont la mati\u00e8re provient de performances enregistr\u00e9es dans le cours d\u2019une seule ann\u00e9e au <strong>Birdland<\/strong>, club mythique de New York, r\u00e9side en ce qu\u2019il nous propose le pianiste jouant \u00e0 r\u00e9p\u00e9tition, et avec une section rythmique diff\u00e9rente, les morceaux connus de son r\u00e9pertoire, standards ou compositions originales.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"https:\/\/www.youtube-nocookie.com\/embed\/PW9EVC9Yv70?rel=0\" width=\"647\" height=\"400\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>La qualit\u00e9 sonore est convenable, le livret bien r\u00e9dig\u00e9. La formule du trio est privil\u00e9gi\u00e9e. \u00c0 quatre reprises, <strong>Charlie Parker<\/strong> et <strong>Dizzy Gillespie<\/strong> sont de la partie.
