Toronto Audio Fest 2018 Report part two

ArtistCloner, a young Quebec manufacturer, arrives in Toronto with a complete ArtistCloner audio system and with the Merging Nadac as source. Made up of the Scorpi integrated amplifier and the Rebel Reference loudspeakers, this sound system has literally hit the hearts of audiophiles in Toronto. I stayed there a long time to listen of course, but also by pride, just to watch the reaction of people … which was really very positive. And with good reason, it sounded heavenly with a lot of dynamics and fine details; the Rebel Reference loudspeakers filled the room of music with a swing that had little comparable. Congratulations to Sylvio Comtois and Isabelle Fortin for this beautiful presentation, you have something to be proud of and keep up the good job!

DR Acoustics, a Quebec company, presents an audio system composed of the new Classé Audio products, the Delta Pre, the Delta Mono blocks as well as the Kef Reference 5 loudspeakers. Of course, all the wiring comes from DR Acoustics, but the main focus is on the Antigone power conditioners. The demonstration on noise reduction was very convincing! In fact, a patent for Antigone technology has just been granted to DR Acoustics. Keep following us as a product review will be soon be coming out.

But let’s get back to Classé Audio devices that are now manufactured in Japan and use a quantity of absolutely crazy quality parts. Just take a look at the back of the preamplifier to be convinced: only Furutech connectors. This HiFi system is one of the quietest in terms of background noise. However in terms of dynamism and power, it is far from being silent. The performance is at the rendezvous! The sound is wide, powerful and takes all the space within the room, a superb performance!

Totem, the well-known manufacturer of loudspeakers, presents its Tribe Tower loudspeakers for the Toronto Audio Fest 2018. For a price of $ 5,500, they are equipped with beautiful woofers manufactured by Totem. These do not even need filtering, which leaves room for the music. I love this pair of loudspeakers: beautiful, well built, offered at a reasonable price and more, they fit easily into any decor and offer a tremendous sound! It’s live, it has life and no one will fall asleep listening to these small freestanding loudspeakers. Pure pleasure.
In the adjacent room, Totem presents its new Ken Play loudspeakers. This is a pair of amplified loudspeakers with Bluetooth connection, offered at a price that defies any competition, $ 1,250 a pair. You will surely have the opportunity to see them and hear them at the upcoming Montreal Audio Show. Congratulations to the entire Totem team for a super professional presentation.

Oracle
, Krell
and Gershman Acoustics have joined forces to offer a flawless presentation around two systems at very different price levels. The most ambitious of the two systems consisted of an Oracle Delphi Signature turntable, an Oracle PH-200 phono stage, a Krell Illusion preamplifier, a Krell Duo 300 amplifier and the famous Gershman Acoustics Posh loudspeakers. It is a very ambitious audio system with immense qualities in terms of sound.

However, what really caught my attention is the second audio system whose proposition is geared towards a much more affordable budget. It consists of an Oracle Origin turntable, an Oracle Origin swivel arm, an Ortofon MC-1 Turbo cell, an Oracle PH-100 phono stage, an integrated Krell K-300I amplifier and Gershman Acoustics Studio 2 loudspeakers. All cables were from Kimber Kables. What a beautiful HiFi system with a very lively swing! First, the Platinum Origin injects a serious dose of life into a system. The surprising Krell K-300I amplifier is rock solid and drives the Gershman Studio 2 with an iron fist. The sound filled the room with a jazz tune with an excellent sense of rhythm and I actually caught my foot accompanying the tempo. Nice demo, we will surely have the opportunity to listen this set-up at the Montreal Audio Show 2019 in March. Dont miss this !

P.S. This photo shows the Audiovector SR6 loudspeakers which our reviewer listen to during his visit in the first room of Tri-Cell’s demo rooms. However when our photographer went to their room on a different day, the loudspeakers were static as the Tri-Cell’s team had decided to demonstrate a different brand on that specific day.
