Peterborough, Ontario December 11th<\/sup>, 2012\u2014 Bryston LTD<\/strong> (www.bryston.com<\/strong><\/a>), builders of the world\u2019s finest audio electronics and celebrating 50\u00a0years in 2012, has announced the introduction of the BP17<\/em>, a state-of-the-art analog\/digital stereo preamplifier derived from the preamp portion of the B-135<\/em> integrated amplifier. Basing a component preamplifier design on existing architecture enables Bryston<\/strong> to deliver unusually high performance and legendary build quality at an affordable price. The BP17<\/em> will be available in December, 2012 with an MSRP of $3\u00a0,550.<\/p>\n

The BP17<\/em> employs Bryston<\/strong>\u2019s most advanced analog circuitry, power supply design and isolation techniques, providing audio aficionados with an ultimate performance preamplifier that delivers outstanding sonic performance. Much of the technology in the BP17<\/em> required over two years in engineering and development resulting in major advances to the analog circuitry derived from the company\u2019s SP-3<\/em> processor platform.<\/p>\n

The BP17<\/em> utilizes a software controlled motorized analog volume dial and integrated balance control, enabling the preamp to be operated remotely while still adhering to fully discrete analog circuits, delivering perfect channel balance and near zero noise or distortion levels.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have reduced T<\/strong>otal H<\/strong>armonic D<\/strong>istortion (<\/em>THD) levels in the <\/em>BP17 by utilizing buffer amplifiers optimized for wide open-loop bandwidth and low open-loop THD,<\/em>\u201d explained Bryston<\/strong> CEO Chris Russell<\/strong>. \u201cThese carefully selected components essentially eliminate the increase in THD with rise in frequency exhibited by almost all op-amps, giving the <\/em>BP17 phenomenal detail and complete lack of grain in the sound field,<\/em>\u201d Russell<\/strong> added. \u201cThe <\/em>BP17 also features a brand new balanced action volume control, eliminating another source of distortion while maintaining channel-to-channel tracking within 1\/10\u00a0dB over the full range of control,<\/em>\u201d Russell<\/strong> concluded.

\nThe Bryston<\/strong> BP17<\/em> can be ordered in four configurations \u2014\u00a0in its standard form, with an optional moving magnet phono stage, with a high resolution internal DAC (D<\/em>igital to A<\/em>nalog C<\/em>onverter) or fully loaded with both the DAC and phono stage. The BP17<\/em> includes provisions for 6\u00a0stereo RCA inputs (4\u00a0with DAC option), 1\u00a0stereo RCA output, 1\u00a0stereo tape loop and a headphone output. The Bryston<\/strong> BR2<\/em> remote, made from a machined aluminum block, is available as an option.<\/p>\n
