Delivering performance aligned with the Focal brand and reflecting the values of Focal Utopia, the world\u2019s best loudspeaker series, Spirit One is available from February 2012.<\/p>\n
After two years in development, the Focal Spirit One headphones have entered the production phase and will be shipping into retailers around the world during January 2012.<\/p>\n
Focal is already world renowned for its hi-fi loudspeakers, its high-end in-car loudspeakers and more recently for studio monitors.\u00a0 Spirit One is the first product in a range for the mobile audio market: delivering Focal performance on the move, as well as at home.<\/p>\n
The Spirit One is a lightweight closed back circum-aural headphone designed to be sonically accurate, to keep out most external sounds \u2013 extensive research was carried out to find the right balance of controlled external leakage to give emotional reassurance and security \u2013 and of course to be truly comfortable for the extended times they might be worn; a transatlantic flight as an example.<\/p>\n

The lightweight (225g) Spirit One is constructed around a headband machined from aircraft grade aluminium.\u00a0 Aluminium is light for its strength, is very durable and unaffected by atmospheric pollution.<\/p>\n
The drive units themselves are very special.\u00a0 They use neodymium magnets for maximum flux density and very lightweight but rigid 40mm mylar\/titanium diaphragms to maximise acceleration while being very sensitive, linear and dynamic.<\/p>\n
Every part of the design was evaluated for performance, the ovoid shape of the outer shells was found to be ideal especially when manufactured from a type of ABS chosen not only for its tactile finish but its inherent self-damping properties.\u00a0 The detachable connecting cord was also important and specified to extremely tight tolerances.<\/p>\n
The connecting cord includes an aluminium iPhone, IPad and iPod remote control able to manage all essential functions including calls, volume, play pause, previous or next track. An adapter can disable the remote for use with non-compatible music players.<\/p>\n
The Spirit One enters a swiftly growing dynamic market and one where fashion is taking its toll on quality and performance.\u00a0 The Spirit One aims to challenge the style of the newer brands but deliver the sound quality, and more, of the older established brands that have struggled to keep pace with the street.<\/p>\n
