The presentation is satisfying and competently conveys the elements present in the movie’s soundtrack. Dialogue intelligibility is quite good but could have been mixed a bit higher as there were times where I had to increase the volume to make out softer spoken passages. Engaging THX Loudness Plus or Pioneer’s Optimum Surround solve the problem. The front three channels delivered the bulk of the sound and did so with good clarity and imaging. The surrounds and sub see the occasional use and support the soundtrack’s elements with light spatial dimension and bass response that accompanies the film’s club atmosphere and music in my theater room.

Equipment used for this review:
Pioneer Elite SC-57 Receiver
Grandviewscreen 96” 21:9 matte-white 1.0-gain screen
PSB Century 300i (front and surround speakers)
PSB Image C5 (centre speaker)
PSB Subseries 300 (subwoofer)
Panasonic PT-AE4000U projector
Pioneer BDP-LX55 BD player
Ultralink Ambiance MKII speaker wires
Viewing room is as per THX and SMPTE recommendation with 45-degree Field of View

Audio: 8/10
Video: 8/10
Storyline: 8/10
[nggallery id=39]

Studio and Year: 20th Century Fox – 2011 MPAA Rating: PG-13 Feature running time: 83 minutes Genre: Teen Romance/Drama Disc Format: BD-25 Encoding: AVC (MPEG-4) Video Aspect: 2.40:1 Resolution: 1080p/24 Audio Format(s): English DTS-HD 5.1 Master Audio, English Dolby Digital 5.1 Subtitles: English SDH, Spanish, French Starring: Emma Roberts, Freddie Highmore, Blair Underwood, Michael Angarano, […]

[20,5,21,10
