Autobots Bumblebee, Rachet, Ironhide and Sideswipe led by Optimus Prime, are back in action taking on the evil Decepticons, who are eager to avenge their recent defeat. The Autobots and Decepticons become involved in a perilous space race between the U.S. and Russia, to reach a hidden Cybertronian spacecraft on the moon and learn its secrets, and once again Sam Witwicky has to come to the aid of his robot friends. New villain, Shockwave, who rules Cybertron, is on the scene while the Autobots and Decepticons continue to battle it out on Earth.
My Take:
After being very disappointed with the sequel of Transformers, I bought this movie with caution. Imagine my surprise to find that the storyline actually exists and it’s good considering the franchise. I’m not going into details on Rosie Alice Huntington-Whiteley’s acting (in-) capability but as usual, concentrate on the overall performance of the presentation. Images are impeccably detailed with astounding transparency with deep and rich blacks, with extended dynamic range that compliments the three dimensional visual depth without actually needing to go 3D.
Its sonic quality is among the best surround sound experiences I have had in my theatre room. The spatial movement of every single sound elements have been mixed not only in a 360-degree plane but in a half-spherical fashion making sound seemingly flying above your head on many occasions without the need of DPL-IIz height channel configuration. The deep, clean, powerful bass is something that’s uncommon nowadays but this disc’s soundtrack delivers it in spades. Low frequency effects are substantial and reach seismic levels on many occasions that test the limits of any subwoofer. This disc is a must-buy for video and audiophiles and will serve as brutally honest sound and video demo for any systems. Buy it, even if you don’t like Transformers.
