Introducing the SAVANT Telephony Solution

Savant broadens range of offerings to include Apple-based telephony
products for residential and commercial installations

Osterville, MA. August 2011—Savant Systems LLC, having delivered the first Apple®-based home automation and commercial control system, has introduced the Savant Telephony Solution. With the introduction of this new product category, Savant leverages its ongoing convergence of Apple® technology with the company’s deep roots in telecom to deliver the industry’s first control plus telephony solution for residential and commercial applications.

Savant offers several handset options including wired or DECT wireless (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunications) models and an integrated family of diverse communication endpoints including Apple’s telephony-enabled iPad®, iPhone® and iPod touch® (Savant TrueControl Apps required, sold separately). Savant’s flexible and scalable telephony solution is based upon the Savant PBX Server (Private Branch Exchange) and delivers full-duplex communication capabilities. The Savant PBX supports up to 72 endpoints all capable of making internal and external local, long distance and international calls (service provider not included).

Savant Telephony users will benefit from an interface that is intuitive and seamlessly integrated with their control and automation functionality—and the only solution to deliver it all from an iPad, iPod touch or iPhone. “We wanted to expand the products and services we offer to our residential and commercial dealers and Savant Telephony provides increased opportunity in a very elegant package,” stated Savant CEO Robert Madonna.  “Through the development of a feature-rich SIP client, Savant engineers took great care to transform the iPod touch® and iPad® into versatile wireless handsets rich with the added benefits of complete control functionality as well as the countless apps available from the Apple® App Store,” Madonna concluded. The Savant Telephony Solution will be on display at CEDIA 2011 and available through authorized Savant dealers in immediately following the show.

Communication, Automation and Control Flexibility
Savant Telephony responds to automation and control events providing users with customizable communication, automation and control in a single architecture. As an example, Savant’s control plus telephony solution can automatically lower whole-house music when receiving incoming calls; auto-answer calls or initiate a Page-All sequence to communicate with gate access points.

Savant Telephony offers an optional Public Announcement System (PAS-1000), which integrates into the Savant family of distributed audio solutions. The PAS-1000 unites the functions of a telephone with a high-performance digital amplifier for paging, broadcasting announcements and supplying background music to assigned rooms, hallways, business floors and more.
