Apple Buying Stake in Sharp LCD Factory

When the competition gets stiffer, sometimes the companies even forget who they are suing. Same is the case with Apple. When it went after Samsung, it did not really forecast the future outcome of this legal entanglement.

Now, reports are suggesting that Apple is planning to invest $1 billion dollars into a Sharp LCD factory which would help reduce dependency in terms of LCD supply on other manufacturers. Earlier Apple largely was dependent on Samsung and LG.

However, LG wasn’t able to provide the LCDs for the iPad 2 which were demanded by Apple in the first place.

It is therefore important now for Apple to diversify its supply lines and depend on different LCD suppliers to ensure that its production keeps the momentum.
