YAMAHA RELEASES FLAGSHIP MODEL IN
COMPANY’S MARKET-LEADING RX-V A/V RECEIVER SERIES

RX-V871 Delivers Unprecedented Performance, Control and Connectivity with Eight 3D/ARC 1080p HDMI Inputs, Cinema DSP 3D, Network Content and iOS and Android Apps
BUENA PARK, Calif. — Yamaha Electronics Corporation today unveils the RX-V871 7.1 channel network A/V receiver, the new top model of its RX-V line. This model is designed to be the dynamic centerpiece of a home entertainment system, delivering the wide array of content available via the latest home entertainment components, the Internet and mobile devices. The model provides eight 3D/ARC-compatible 1080p HDMI inputs (and two outs), including a front panel HDMI input for camcorders and digital cameras, to power sophisticated home entertainment systems. Improved YPAO system calibration now offers Multi-Point functionality to measure speaker height and directivity for optimized audio playback.

Yamaha’s free downloadable iPhone app, that is compatible with the RX-V871 and other select receiver models in the company’s lines, controls an A/V system’s basic functionality, including connected sources, network content navigation and zone choice functions. A similar Android-based app will be available in the fall.

“The line between the content consumers want to access in the home and on the go is gone. With our RX-V871 A/V receiver, we not only enable easy connectivity and playback of content from portable devices, but also enable them to be used to control a home entertainment system via apps we developed for iPhone and Android devices,” said Tom Sumner, President, Yamaha Electronics Corporation. “Yamaha was the first to offer a home entertainment system control app for the iPhone, which underscores our understanding of our customers and ability to stay a step ahead of the needs and expectations of discerning A/V enthusiasts.”

The 7.1 channel RX-V871 (110 W per channel, 8 ohms, 1 kHz, 0.9% THD, 2 ch. driven) features HD Audio decoding with Yamaha’s proprietary CINEMA DSP 3D technology that creates high, wide and dense surround sound fields to enhance 3D and 2D viewing and music-listening experiences. Yamaha’s exclusive virtual presence technology enhances all HD Audio content by adding the height and ambient dimensionality to the home theater experience without the need for extra front speakers.

The RX-V871 network A/V receiver is both DLNA 1.5 and Windows 7 certified, providing users full access to free and paid network music streaming services such as Internet radio, Rhapsody, SiriusXM Internet Radio, Pandora, Napster, as well as audio content located on DLNA supported networked computers or storage drives.

The RX-V871’s front panel USB iPod/iPhone input provides consumers with a direct digital connection of their iPhone/iPod content by using the standard 30-pin iPod dock connector to USB cable connection. Users can then control and play audio content from these devices with the supplied remote, with song titles, cover art and playback information appearing on the receiver’s attractive on-screen menu.

The RX-V871 is 3D-capable, and features Audio Return Channel (ARC) and 1080p HDMI compatible inputs with HD Audio decoding of Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio, Dolby Digital Plus and DTS-HD High Resolution Audio content. Eco-friendly, the RX-V871 provides the industry’s lowest standby power consumption without compromising performance.

An advanced multi-language Graphic User Interface (GUI) with album art makes navigation of all menus easy and intuitive. Eye-catching graphics can be overlaid on HD and 3D video signals, providing access to navigational icons and setup items, control over internal sources, as well as connected iPhone/iPod devices.

Yamaha’s proprietary Compressed Music Enhancer technology restores lost detail in compressed music files, providing a natural sounding listening experience when enjoying your favorite music from an iPod or other compressed music source.

The RX-V871 boasts 8 in/2 out HDMI (3D and ARC compatibility), 1080p upscaling and has assignable amplifiers for bi-amp and Zone 2 capabilities. Bluetooth compatible (A2DP), this model can be used with the optional Yamaha Bluetooth Wireless Audio Receiver YBA-10 to enable users to listen to their favorite music on their iPhone, iPod, iPad, Android phone, MP3 player, smartphone, or just about any Bluetooth-enabled device.

The Yamaha RX-V871 is now shipping for an MSRP of $899.95 US.
